Another Family has Changed their Opinion About Vaccination

unfortunately, it took three of them coming down with measles for mum and dad to change their minds: Karl Daw and his 3 and 4 year olds sons were so sick that they had to be admitted to the hospital, the 6 month old baby has been given a measles vaccine now.

Go get your MMRs - there is no reasonable alternative.

  1. I think people do not realize how incredibly contagious measles is. It is contagious from 5 days before symptoms begin and up to 5 days after symptoms disappear. An infected person will spread it to 90% of the susceptible population he comes into contact with.

  2. Anyone who still suffers under the delusion that measles is just a "mild" illness and nothing to worry about should take a look at Pakistan right now. They have had hundreds (if not over a thousand at this point) of deaths in the past couple months.

    1. [sarcasm] But, Todd, those are some dark foreign kids who don't count! and most of the kids who get measles survive! [/sarcasm]

Just a sample of some of the arguments I read on the five-star reviews on the American Amazon page for Melanie's Marvelous Measles.

  3. Measles is a disease where the outcome largely depends on vitamin A availability. Probably, at least in part, because it causes a depletion in vitamin A. I actually think that this might be one of the actual facts that lead people to believe that nutrition is the key to fighting all infections. Although, some people who go in with plenty of vitamin A availability are quickly depleted and suffer the same fate for unknown reasons and this is only one complication of measles.

  4. Many people also don’t know about SSPE, a rare and fatal complication of measles. To learn more about SSPE and read about personal experiences from families who lost their children, check out the Vaccine Education Center’s Parents PACK site: http://www.chop.edu/service/parents-possessing-accessing-communicating-knowledge-about-vaccines/sharing-personal-stories/sharing-personal-story-measles.html

  5. Thingy, it's a shame that you can't seem to read your own citations properly and understand why IgM is not diagnostic for a wild-type measles infection when recently vaccinated. And you are not going to use this blog to carry out your rampage from others' you've been banned from.

  6. Thingy, Don't bother commenting; I'm putting all your comments into the spam tin.

  7. There are reasonable alternatives. It is called a helathy lifestyle. I highly doubt that the shot would 100 percent protect the Daws family from the measles. I feel sorry that they had to suffer, but really, just like Piers Morgan came down with the flu days after receiving his first ever flu shot, the Daws could have very well still been struck with the measles.

    1. The vaccine is 95% effective with either one or two doses so it's a very good chance that none of them would have contracted measles. A "helathy" lifestyle doesn't do squat for a disease that has one of the highest infectivity rates and infected nearly 100% of the population pre-vaccine.

I responded to your equally dumb Piers Morgan nonsense on the flu post. And you're wrong there too. Please learn some basic science.

    2. Some basic arithmetic: 95% protection against getting measles is better than 0%.

Your "alternative" provides absolutely no protection from measles.

  8. ladies, this is not internet spam.... vaccines are not the wonder drug you think they are! please understand this.

this is the a big flop for big pharma trying to persuade, bully, or scare people into getting shots of any kind. sound familiar?

    1. oooo, Piers got a cold a day after his flu shot? My husband got a 40 degree fever the evening after a cancelled flu shot appointment. Guess what - Winter is bug season and the flu shot does not protect you from colds.
